Hello, this is me….

I am the eldest of five. If you know me personally, that should explain a lot.

My parents raised their brood to dare to believe in themselves, to think independently, and to courageously forge a path into the world that may be beyond the predictable norms of society. 

I have a mother who created magic in the most mundane of tasks or the adventure in any afternoon errand. She believed that the best education was discovered in nature, imagination, and play. With her, a hike was uphill…both directions. 

While my mother is the pillar, my father is the solid foundation of the family. A day never passed when I did not feel unconditionally loved, protected, provided for, and safe. My childhood was beautiful because of the sacrifices, love, and resilience of my parents. 

As a classical Pilates Instructor and Teacher Trainer, my desire is to uphold, honor, and continue the traditional principles and intentions of Joseph Pilates’ movement system. It is less about the performance of how much but more about the purposeful intent of how well the movement can be executed. Every foundational movement becomes increasingly refined as the nuances are peeled away. The system is devised of recognizable movement patterns that build upon another.

I desire to always create a space of collaboration, community, conversation, and exploration within these principles of Contrology. I believe in applying critical thinking, correct movement principles, body mechanics, curiosity, kindness and play to teach the body in front of you. I believe in tailored training for the uniqueness of each individual’s structure and movement patterns; not simply reciting what is found in a manual. 

I am an old soul. I seek timelessness and nostalgia. I ache for the era of Audrey Hepburn, printed newspapers, telephone calls, maps, old Hollywood glamor, record players, attention spans, etiquette, full sentences before abbreviations such as “lol”.

At any time, I have a book on hand. The greatest life lessons, skills, “self-help”, knowledge and morals are found in literature. Many pitfalls could be avoided by simply paying attention to and having the sense to apply the lessons passed down through the power of the pen.

Outlets of creative is the most fulfilling past time. Is there anything more inviting than an empty page awaiting the touch of pen or brush? I pull creativity from all avenues in my life; how I approach a session with a client, how I decorate my home, how I present myself, the words that I choose, the aesthetic I desire to cultivate. 

I strive for excellence in every facet of my life.

There are a few hills I will die on. One is that I believe beauty can be found anywhere and in any situation.

Quality over quantity always. Collect relationships, experiences, cultures, and curated items. 

Speaking of quality, I will never settle on my coffee and yes, the shape and size of your coffee cup matters. 

Instant gratification is seductive but will never create anything that will last the test of time. 

If you are going to go out and break the rules, understand them first. 

I crave a life of simplicity and feel most at peace when I breathe in fresh air, see the sunlight shedding through leaves, the scent of roses, bare feet in the grass, the distant sound of a lawnmower, birds singing, horses, fresh eggs, home grown vegetables, hands in the dirt.

Perhaps I am a dichotomy as well for I love the building of my business which has allowed me to meet most fascinating people and be welcomed into many lives and stories. I love building a community. I thrive off of hard work and honing my craft and skill. I am hungry for learning and understanding more. I have pride in becoming a master at my work and vocation. I wish to mentor and aspire those coming after me in the same way I was given a helping, guiding hand. 

My family is my everything and I have such pride watching my siblings grow and thrive in their unique callings. 

Deep down, I am both a ballerina and a horse girl. 

When I decide to do something, I do. I am strong in my opinions and determined, yet open-minded and willing to self-correct and accept criticism when genuinely intended. My greatest competitor is myself. 

The most important part of who I am, the very essence of my identity, is in Christ. I dislike the term, “religion”. My faith is a living, growing, developing and every deepening relationship with Jesus. Every day, my desire is to grow more like Him, speak like Him, love like Him, become a mirrored reflection of His image and example. Through Him, I simply desire to spread His light.
